Lightning Protection System
A lightning protection system (LPS) is provided for the property. The LPS is designed to provide a path for the voltage currents in a lightning strike to go to 'ground'.
The LPS does not attract lightning and does not dissipate lightning. It simply provides fire and structural damage protection to the building by preventing the lightning from passing through the building.
Systems can contain rods and/or conductor cables. Rods provide a terminal for the lightning strike while conductor cables are placed around the building in a symmetrical arrangement sometimes known as a 'Faraday cage' with the cables running around roof edges and down the building to ground. These installations specifically protect sensitive installations such as computer rooms, domestic electrical equipment and safety systems.
