Emergency Voice Communication System
An emergency voice communication system has been provided in specific parts of the property.
The system is a closed or secure communication system that is designed to ensure that emergency services can speak with persons located at the communication panels from their location at the entry point in the building.
Generally the communication points are in protected lobbies and stair compartments where occupants can remain in a place of relative safety while assistance requirements can be established and organised for their evacuation.
Older systems may be labelled as 'REFUGE' areas. Communication points have speech and speaker panels located at an accessible height with a call button to alert the main panel when the system is in use.
